Dalhousie Parents' Daycare employs 14 program staff who are ALL registered Early Childhood Educators with the college of ECEs. We also employ a full time in-house cook, housekeeper, program coordinator and administrative coordinator. Many of our staff have been at Dalhousie for over 20 years. Our staff’s experience and dedication is reflected in the high quality of care we provide. Children and parents are greeted each day by the dedicated, warm and caring staff, who work tirelessly to create a safe and engaging community for all. We foster an inclusive and multicultural environment at the Centre where the children can be themselves, make friends, and learn critical skills for their early childhood development.
All staff maintain up to date First Aid and CPR certification and Vulnerable Sector Police check, as well as participate in ongoing professional development.
Dalhousie Parents' Day Care is a teaching centre. We provide training to early childhood education students, and high school coop students doing placements at our centre.
Dalhousie Parents’ Day Care is a non-profit organization that functions as a parent-staff cooperative. We are governed by a board made up of staff and volunteer parents. Staff and volunteer parents are also involved in various centre committees.
The cooperative philosophy is that all staff are essential for the running of the centre. All staff have the opportunity to be part of decision making, and there is no staff hierarchy. Staff at the Dalhousie Parents' day care are unionized members of CUPE 2204.
Dalhousie Parents' Day Care is a participant in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Program. We publicly acknowledge the support of the City of Ottawa and the Ontario Ministry of Education for their financial contributions to the operating budget of the Dalhousie Parents’ Day Care. Our rates are pro-rated, flat, monthly amounts. As a non-profit organization, our rates are based on the cost of operating the programs.
Subject to the rules governing CWELCC program eligibility, the rates below are for the program your child is enrolled in, not for the age of your child. Please note that the movement of children from one program to the next is dependent on spaces being available and the child’s readiness. Your child may remain in a program, past the licensed age range, if spaces are not available in the next program or or your child is not developmentally ready for the next program
