Infant program

(Ages 0-18 Months)

Our infant program has 10 infants and 4 full time educators. Our fully renovated indoor space is designed for crawlers and early walkers, with a separate room for naps, and a separate eating area.
Our infant staff are passionate about helping each infant develop a sense of belonging and well-being. This sets the framework for them to securely explore their environment. Activities and play materials in the program are based on expanding the children’s interest and helping them progress through developmental stages. The program is enriched with dramatic play, fine and gross motor activities, sensory and art activities, circle time, music, baking and science. Both junior and senior toddler programs focus on social and emotional development, and communication skills. The senior toddler program focuses on increased independence and toilet training. We engage in ongoing projects with the children, such as raising caterpillars into butterflies and growing plants for our garden. Community partnerships include visits from a City of Ottawa librarian, a yoga instructor, and musicians. Educators help encourage communication through gestures, simple sign language, and first sounds and words. We also have a dedicated infant outdoor space, and large strollers to go on neighbourhood walks.
All educators are registered with the college of early childhood educators, are certified in First Aid and CPR, and have vulnerable sector police records checks.
Our in house cook provides fresh made snacks and lunches. We accommodate allergies, dietary preferences (eg. halal or vegetarian), and young infants who are still expanding their diet or need puree. We have in room refrigeration for formula or breast milk from home, and we provide homogonized milk.
All diapers and wipes are included in our fees.

Educators communicate with parents in person at the beginning and each of each day, as well as through a childcare app that allows us to send messages and photos during the day.

The two toddler programs are designed too encourage independance, social skills, self-help skills, language and communication, and potty training. Activities and play materials in the program are based on expanding the children’s interest and helping them progress through developmental stages. The program in enriched with dramatic play, gross motor, sensory and art, and daily singing and reading. We enjoy daily outdoor exploration in our large yard, go on walks in the surrounding neighbourhood, and enjoy the nearby splash pad in the summer. We work in partnership with St. Anthony’s school to use the indoor gym space when available, and have school age reading buddies for the senior toddlers.
